EMail Server Outbound Authentication Tightening

As upgrades have been applied to the hosted mail server, a couple of security settings were inadvertently lightened, causing spammers to have a potential avenue to use our server for sending unsolicited emails. Early in the morning on Thursday May 31, 2012, we will be re-applying the strict sending regulations on the mail server. This will mean that all e-mail clients need to be configured to utilize outbound SMTP authentication for successful e-mail sending. Additionally, it would be a good idea to use TCP port 587, though it’s not required. Contact our offices if you have issues or need assistance with adjusting these settings.
